Something New for Seniors

Life before you get to old to enjoy it. About four years ago I began to wonder what I was spending on my lifestyle. My house payment was $1800 a month. It was pretty good I had a home valued about $200,000 and the taxes were about $9,000 a year, the insurance was about $1000.00 a year. The cost of utilities Electric, water, trash and heating was on average about $180.00 monthly. The cost of TV cable was $49.00 monthly basic. We ate out about two times a week spending around $360.00 a month and our food at home cost was about $200.00 a month. We went dancing and to a movie once in a while so we were spending $80.00 a month. The total spending of my life style was over $3000 a month. Wow, what an eye opener!!!

I found that the new resort lifestyles offered today are about the same cost and everything is done for you. All inclusive one payment a month and you know how much you pay month to month. When living at home it is impossible to see how much we are paying for your lifestyle unless you really know all the costs you are paying. Most people forget items or don't include the real cost of living.

Some people say "My house is paid for so I don't pay a house payment" What does it cost you to have your money invested in your house. If you had $200,000 invested in a good investment you can make $1200 on an investment paying 6%. A good broker can usually over the years make you around 11% at least. That would be $2200 a month so it does cost you to keep your home even if it is paid off.

Home of Senior Info

Starting around 1969 the way we looked at retirement or rest homes as it was called at that time started to change. Each year and every new community that came along made an improvement. Now as we look back we see why seniors today feel when an adult child is looking at something to help better their parent's life the parent feels everyone is trying to put them in a home for old people. Children want to find something that would fit their parents active lifestyle and better serve the parents need.

Today we see things like a Spa, billards room, lounge with sports tv, game room, styling solan, lifestyle cordinators, concierges, dining room managers and freedom dining. What is it seniors see in this picture that is something to avoid. It seems we have some wonderful living arrangements. The best part is it is just beginning to get better. If you are getting close to the age of retirement it is worth your while to see some of the newest resort lifestyle communities for seniors. We are the home of senior info and will be submitting blogs for you to enjoy. You might want to take advantage of some of the free events and ammenities these new retirement lifestyles have to offer. More in my next blog and I will give you some places to visit if you live close to there location.
